Movie Manuscript Design

Timeline: 10 weeks

Role: Editorial Design, Art Direction

This project was to create a book of selected movie manuscripts. I chose the movie called “Grand Budapest Hotel.” I watched the movie twice, downloaded the manuscript, summarized the contents into 80 pages, and collected images. I took inspiration from the movie storyline and used a newspaper layout for the pages. I tried to convey the strong characteristic of the movie with the bold arrangement of images and the pink color that gradually gets darker. Just by reading this book, I wanted readers to feel the same as they were watching the movie. I printed the actual book at the end, which was very interesting to experience the printing process and learn the rules of margin to print properly. Through this project, I honed the basic design logic of hierarchy, layout, grid, and keeping consistency. I was able to develop my Indesign tool skills and acquire the whole process of editorial work.
